Colapinto’s Dramatic Crash Shakes Up F1 Imola GP Qualifying Session

Alpine driver Franco Colapinto caused the qualifying session for Formula 1’s Imola Grand Prix to be red-flagged a second time due to a crash. This happened when Colapinto, making his 2025 season debut with Alpine, lost control and hit the barriers after going onto the grass at Tamburello on his final flyer in Q1. Thankfully, he signaled he was unharmed after climbing out of the car. The incident was the second major crash in Q1, the first being Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda’s accident at the Villeneuve chicane. Colapinto had qualified 14th for Q2, but is expected to receive a grid penalty for an infraction relating to entering the fast lane of the pitlane prematurely during the first red flag.
